It would be an understatement to say that it has been a roller coaster for Costa Rica in the qualifying rounds for the World Cup.
After an amazing start where they led the group, they fell apart, significantly diminishlng their chances to move on.
Then they seemed to “get it together” again, and had an amazing two last games, the last of which was played today against the USA, in the United States. If Costa Rica had won, they would have moved instantly to the World Cup. But it was not to be.
They started the game with a solid 2-0 lead, and went to half time with that advantage.
Twenty minutes form the end of the game, they still had that lead, but the US scored a goal close to the 30th minute . . . and then scored a second goal with only 30 seconds to go (in injury time)!
    What a heart-breaker!
This now means that Costa Rica must play Uruguay in two matches to decide which of these two teams will make it to the World Cup.
Anything can happen and it will be exciting to watch these final two games, which will be played on November 14 and 18.
