Anxiety and panic attacks are usually normal reactions to stress. Everyone, who goes through lots of stress in his or her relationships or work, has some level of anxiety from time-to-time. This is a normal reactions to things; however, if the anxiety or panic goes “over board” or becomes excessive, and begins to create problems in your life, then there is need to worry.
Statistics claim that more than forty million American adults (more than 18 years of age) have problems with anxiety and panic attacks. It is important that people, who are regular victims of these problems, should visit their doctors and not treat the problem casually, or attempt to self-medicate.
These disorders are not usually extremely dangerous; however, they can be – they can make day-to-day life difficult for the victim and they can be the cause of, or contribute to, serious physical conditions such as heart disease.
Symptoms could be many and can vary. If you experience a racing heartbeat, find it difficult to breathe and feel as if there is not enough air or oxygen around you, you may be experiencing anxiety disorder or a panic attack. Becoming nervous, tense or stressed, feeling terrorized or afraid, trembling, sweating, choking, chest pains, heart palpitation, hot flashes, sudden chills, tingling sensation in the fingers or toes, fear of imminent death, etc. are all other symptoms of the disorders.
Treatment is available for these disorders, including medications, therapy, exercises, etc.
